Answer the phone
A human picks up during working hours. Not a queue, not a chatbot, not a ticket number. If we miss you, we call back.
The last yard is the bit that goes wrong. The gate that's locked, the lift that's out, the driver who won't wait. We built this company around that final stretch — because it is the only part of the journey your customer actually sees.
The Last Yard Logistics started where it actually happens — on the road. Three of us, friends before we were ever business partners, spent years driving London and the South East as couriers. We learned the streets properly: which industrial estates have a loading bay and which make you carry it two hundred metres, which one-way system costs you twenty minutes at four o'clock, which receptionist will sign for anything and which site will turn you away without a booking reference.
You do not learn that from a route-planning screen. You learn it by feeling every bump, missing a window because of a closed slip road, and having to phone a customer yourself to explain why.
In time we each moved up into management. We planned the routes instead of driving them, held the ETAs, took the escalations and saw the numbers behind the round. That gave us the big picture — but we never lost the ground truth, because we had done the job with our own hands first.
From both seats, the same gap kept showing up. The large carriers are genuinely good at moving freight between depots. They are far weaker at the part that decides whether your customer is happy: the final mile. Freight arrived eventually. Nobody could say when, nobody answered the phone, and the business that had taken the order had nothing useful to tell the person waiting in.
So we put our own name on the van. Grassroots understanding, professional execution, and no layers in between. The last mile isn't a line on a map — it's the final handshake, the moment of truth for your brand, and the only part of the journey your customer actually sees.
That's the UMPH we bring: the grit, the hustle and the relentless drive to turn your last mile from a cost you tolerate into a reason people come back. The model stays deliberately simple. One van, one driver, one price agreed in writing before anything moves. When something changes, a person calls you. When it lands, you get a photograph.
Every one of us has done the job at all three levels. That is the whole reason the service works the way it does.
Years of same-day and multi-drop work across London and the South East. Real knowledge of access, loading bays, booking-in systems and the traffic that actually breaks a delivery window.
Planning rounds, holding ETAs, handling the escalations and owning the numbers. We learned where cost hides in a route and why promises slip before anyone tells the customer.
Our vans, our drivers, our phone. Nothing is subcontracted into a network where your consignment becomes somebody else's problem and nobody can tell you where it is.
Not a mission statement. Just the things we refuse to get wrong.
A human picks up during working hours. Not a queue, not a chatbot, not a ticket number. If we miss you, we call back.
A fixed price agreed in writing. No fuel surcharge, no waiting-time ambush, no invoice that doesn't match the quote.
Traffic happens. What shouldn't happen is you finding out from your own customer. If we're going to be late, you hear it from us first.
Timestamped photo, GPS location and signature on every drop. Forward it to your customer without editing a thing.
We are not a parcel network. Our work is the awkward, heavy, time-sensitive freight that parcel networks either refuse or ruin.
Everything you would expect to see before putting a carrier on your approved list.
Goods-in-transit cover on every load as standard, with enhanced cover up to £25,000 per consignment available at booking. Public liability cover in place for site work.
DBS-checked, licence-verified and inducted before they carry anything. The same drivers return to your site, so they learn your access, your contacts and your rules.
Euro 6, ULEZ-compliant vehicles on a scheduled maintenance and daily-defect-check regime. Registration and MOT records available on request.
No contract, no onboarding process, no minimum spend. Book a single delivery and see how it goes.
Leave a number and one line about the job. Operations will call back with a fixed figure — usually inside thirty minutes during working hours.
